A refreshed name for a unified sustainability presence. Formerly known as Sustainable Campus, the site has been rebranded as Sustainable Cornell to better reflect the breadth of sustainability efforts happening across the university. The new name emphasizes that sustainability at Cornell extends beyond campus operations to include academics, research, engagement, and community impact. Along with the name change, webpages have been updated to improve clarity, navigation, and storytelling, making it easier for students, faculty, staff, and partners to find resources, learn about initiatives, and see how they can be part of Cornell’s sustainability work.
Updated: Green House Gas Inventory pages. Expanded content and data improve transparency around Cornell’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including Scope 1 (on‑campus sources), Scope 2 (purchased electricity), and Scope 3 (commuting and university‑funded air travel).
New: Sustainability Dashboard The new Sustainability Dashboard brings Cornell’s sustainability goals and progress together in one interactive, user‑friendly space. Organized across three focus areas—Carbon Neutrality, Campus Operations, and Education and Engagement—the dashboard highlights key metrics, trends, and initiatives, helping users better understand how Cornell is advancing sustainability across operations, academics, and campus life.
New: Lake Source Cooling 25th Anniversary. A new webpage celebrates the 25th anniversary of Cornell’s Lake Source Cooling (LSC) system, highlighting its history, impact, and role as a pioneering sustainable energy solution. The page features key milestones, data on environmental and energy savings, and reflections on how LSC continues to support Cornell’s climate goals while serving as a model for institutions worldwide.
New: Utilities Reliability and Energy Transition. To ensure reliability of campus utilities while maximizing carbon reduction in a rapidly changing energy landscape Cornell engineers and researchers are developing a program that will help them plan for the responsible decarbonization of the Ithaca campus district energy system.
New: Cornell Reuse Network. The Cornell ReUse Network connects Cornell staff through a campus‑wide reuse and sharing platform where staff can post items they no longer need and browse what others have shared, supporting waste reduction and a more circular campus economy.
